The ADX-8 is a digital audio signal extender designed for ADAT connections. The system consists of a transmitter unit and a receiver unit that communicate via a standard Cat5 network cable.
The primary function of the device is to extend the maximum distance of ADAT audio connections, which are typically limited to a few meters. The ADX-8 allows for signal transmission up to a maximum distance of 100 meters.
The device ensures a 1:1, bit-for-bit transmission, without compression or format conversions. Its latency is close to zero, allowing for real-time transmission. It also offers galvanic isolation between the units to eliminate electrical noise and hum.
The ADX-8 is compatible with ADAT Lightpipe, SPDIF, AC-3 (Dolby Digital), and DTS signals with a sample rate of up to 96 kHz. Both units, the transmitter and receiver, require 9-12VDC power.
